TAILORING INSTRUCTIONS FOR MARCHING BAND UNIFORMS

A Lincoln High School Marching Band uniform will be issued to your child. Please keep the uniform in the garment bag it came in or one of your own if available. These uniforms are very expensive and the band needs every one of them to remain in the best condition possible.

Your student’s uniform has been dry cleaned and should remain pressed and ready for them to perform in. Unfortunately, even dry cleaning doesn’t remove every stain. It’s normal to see some imperfections in this regard.

*****DO NOT CUT ANY OF THE FABRIC, ANYWHERE ON THE UNIFORM*****

All of the hemming stitches will be removed from each piece of every uniform near the end of the school year. These uniforms will be reused every year and will accommodate students of varying sizes. If any uniform has undergone permanent alterations, it will then be of no use to a student who is requiring a larger uniform in subsequent years.

Your child will bring home a uniform that has been pinned to his/her appropriate length. Using a stitch that can easily be removed, please hand sew the hem into place. Once the stitches are in place and the pins have been removed, you may carefully press the hemmed area. *To prevent burning/melting of the synthetic fabric, place a towel over the hemmed area of the band uniform and lightly iron, checking often to ensure condition of fabric.
 

Your child will return their full uniform after the Portuguese Holy Ghost Festa parade near the end of the school year. If your child’s suggested band donation has already been paid, you will not have to pay to have the uniform dry cleaned. If the suggested band donation has not been paid, your student will need to return the unclean uniform along with $15. You may also opt to have the uniform dry cleaned yourself before returning. In this case, please include the dry cleaning receipt including the date of service.
